Borrowing of laptop computers a popular trend in Canadian research
libraries

According to the newly-released CARL Statistiques 2005-2006 Statistics,
more than half of CARL member libraries (16) reported the lending of laptops
as a service to users. A number of libraries also provide wireless Ethernet
cards .These are two of the many ways in which today’s research library

Washington DC (October 22, 2007)—LibQUAL+® Releases 2007
Survey Publications
Results from two groups participating in the spring 2007 LibQUAL+® survey
are now available for purchase:
The LibQUAL+® Canada results notebook includes data from 3 government
institutions, 45 colleges/universities, and 5 community colleges. Of the
53 participating institutions, 10 offered dual-language surveys and 9 offered
their surveys only in French. French-language respondents gave higher scores
for perceived service quality in Affect of Service, Information Control,
and Library as Place than did other respondents

Research library spending on electronic serials surpasses print
serials for the second consecutive year

Spending on electronic serials by Canada’s research libraries in 2004–2005
rose to just over $94 million dollars, a 20% increase over 2003–2004,
compared to a decrease of 3% on print serials expenditures to $69.6 million

– 2004 rose to just under $78.5 million dollars, a 38.4% increase
over 2002-2003, compared to a decrease of 20% on print serials expenditures
