Call for participation: The Canadian Web Archiving Coalition inaugural Coordinating Committee

The Canadian Web Archiving Coalition (CWAC) is looking for volunteers to serve on its inaugural Coordinating Committee. We’re looking for 5 to 10 individuals with an interest in web archiving that can best represent the diversity of groups in Canada who are active in this area, including people from:

  • A wide variety of archives and library types, including national, provincial, academic, public, government, and corporate
  • Museums and galleries
  • Research programs focused on web archiving or allied areas of investigation
  • Web archives service providers and developers

We encourage people to participate that can provide as much regional and organizational diversity as possible. We also recognize that the best work happens when people with a wide range of experiences and perspectives come together. We therefore welcome nominees that represent as wide a diversity of perspectives and experiences as possible.

The CWAC Coordinating Committee will be responsible for translating the strategic priorities identified by CWAC membership into actions and initiatives that will have a real impact on web archiving in Canada. Currently, these strategic priorities are: collaborative collections, advocacy, and training. Members will serve two (2) year terms.

If you’re interested, or if you would like to nominate someone who you think would be, please contact me with the following information by Wednesday, February 28th, 2018:

  • The name and contact information of the interested person
  • An indication of their willingness to serve
  • A very brief biographical sketch

Please note that in addition to regular teleconference meetings throughout the year, there will be an annual meeting of the CWAC Coordinating Committee. Unfortunately we cannot offer any travel support to attend this meeting, but will make arrangements for members to attend remotely if required.

If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I look forward to receiving your nominations!
