This highly interactive workshop will be led and facilitated by members of our open access practitioner community and is timed to immediately precede the Library Publishing Forum and its pre-conferences in Vancouver. For those wishing to attend both Advancing Open and the PKP Sprint event, arrangements have been made with PKP so that you may participate in the first day of the Sprint, then attend Advancing Open in its entirety.
These discussions will result in a synthesis document that builds on previous CARL initiatives and can be used by the Canadian community of open access advocates, leaders and practitioners as an instrument to strengthen our collective ability to match strategy to tactical implementation.
The organizers of this event recognize the importance of having a multiplicity of perspectives, and strive to make the event as inclusive as possible.
This event aims to accommodate participation in both official languages. Simultaneous interpretation will be available for all plenary sessions, and participants are invited to participate in breakout discussions in the language of their choice. Bilingual participants in these smaller groups are asked to help bridge communication gaps when necessary.
The plenary sessions will be live-streamed for those unable to travel to Vancouver.
Advancing Open is setting up a mentorship matching opportunity for new or early career scholarly communications employees.
