December 7, 2021. – Reporting to the Canadian Association of Research Libraries’ (CARL) Strengthening Capacity Committee, the CARL Competencies Working Group (CWG) was struck in the summer of 2017 to refresh the 2010 publication, ‘Core Competencies for 21st Century CARL Librarians.’
This process was highly consultative – with opportunities for diverse library directors and library staff to provide feedback along the way.
Following the release of a consultation draft in December 2019, the CWG revised the document to better reflect the current needs of the profession and the final draft of the Competencies for Librarians in Canadian Research Libraries was published in September 2020.
CARL is now seeking to strike a Competencies Promotion Working Group to advise on a number of promotional activities, including the production of a series of video profiles featuring library colleagues who embody the competencies.
Work is expected to commence in the winter of 2022 and expressions of interest with a short supporting narrative as to qualifications and experience in the production of short promotional videos, can be sent to Julie Morin, Program Officer, CARL, .
We also ask that you please inform your library director about your interest in joining this group.
The deadline to submit expressions of interest is December 22, 2021.
