COAR International Accord Strengthens Ties Between Repository Networks

VENICE, ITALY, May 10, 2017 – As a signatory, CARL is pleased to share the announcement of an international accord signed during this week’s Confederation of Open Access Repositories (COAR) meeting in Venice. Developed by COAR, this accord will improve collaboration between networks, foster the development of global services, and serve as a template for specific activities including exchanging metadata across networks, adopting common standards and APIs, and implementing common functionalities. The accord was signed by network representatives from Australia, China, Europe, Latin America, Japan, South Africa, the United States, and Canada. CARL president, Martha Whitehead, was pleased to represent CARL at the meeting and to participate in the signing ceremony for Canada’s repository network.
