CARL is proud to celebrate individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the advancement of Canadian research libraries. Through two prestigious awards, CARL acknowledges those who have demonstrated exemplary leadership, innovation, and service in the field of research librarianship. These awards honor both national and international achievements, as well as impactful contributions at the local and regional levels.
Distinguished Service Award
Awarded annually to a Canadian who has significantly contributed to research librarianship at the national and international levels. Nomination are accepted year-round. The award is valued at $2,500 and is generously sponsored by ProQuest LLC, part of Clarivate.
Award of Merit
Given to an individual who has made a notable local, regional, or national impact within research librarianship. Nominations require one letter of support and are accepted anytime. The award may be presented at any CARL meeting.
