The Canadian Association of Research Libraries seeks expressions of interest from 5-7 representatives from academic and research libraries across the country to serve a two-year term on the inaugural Canadian Repository Community of Practice Steering Committee (“Engagement Team”).
Background
From 2018-2022, the CARL Open Repositories Working Group (ORWG) Community Building & Engagement Task Group worked to foster and support a Canadian repositories community of practice. While the mandate of the ORWG ended in December 2022, the need to support the community of practice continues. The Canadian Repositories Community of Practice Steering Committee is intended to bring together committed individuals with a desire to stoke the fires of engagement within the Canadian repositories community and increase the flow of information between its participants. More specifically, it seeks to maintain, encourage, and promote engagement with the Canadian repositories community of practice by organizing community calls, roundtables, workshops, and/or other forms of community engagement, connecting newcomers to pre-existing forums/spaces of the community, and administering the annual repositories survey in collaboration with CARL. More information can be found in the Committee’s Terms of Reference.
Instructions
To apply, please send a brief statement outlining your interest in serving on this group and your experience in the area of repositories to Karen Nicholson karen.nicholson AT carl-abrc.ca, by 5 p.m. ET, Wednesday, March 8. Members will be selected by Andrea Kosavic and Dany Bouchard, past co-Chairs of the CARL Open Repositories Working Group, and Karen Nicholson with the goal of ensuring diversity of members (e.g. institutional size and location; in knowledge, experience and/or responsibilities related to repositories; career stage, etc.). At least three members of the Steering Committee will be selected from among CARL member institutions. Members will be confirmed with Library directors and announced before the end of March.
