Library and Archives Canada signs with OCLC to replace AMICUS and the National Union Catalogue

OTTAWA, April 03, 2017 – CARL is pleased to learn that, effective March 23, 2017, Library and Archives Canada (LAC) has signed an agreement with OCLC, an international non-profit library co-operative, and will be transitioning AMICUS and the National Union Catalogue to OCLC services over the next 24 months. OCLC was awarded this initial five-year contract following a Government of Canada public procurement process, as it was deemed to be the only organization that met all of LAC’s requirements. This agreement will allow LAC to offer reliable and mobile-friendly world-class services in both official languages. The current interface will remain operational until the transition is complete and LAC plans to communicate regularly with the Canadian library community to obtain feedback and provide updates.
