@Risk North 3 – 2024: Safeguarding the Canadian Digital Record – Save the Dates!

The Canadian Association of Research Libraries and co-sponsoring organizations including Canadian Research Knowledge Network, Library and Archives Canada, Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec, Internet Archive Canada, and the Digital Preservation Coalition are pleased to announce an in-person 1.5-day summit on Canadian digital preservation later this year.

“@Risk North 3 2024: Safeguarding the Canadian Digital Record” will be held at Library and Archives Canada (LAC) in Gatineau, Québec, on November 21 and 22, 2024.

This open event will provide an opportunity for those at Canadian institutions who have strategic or operational responsibility for long-term access and preservation of digital content to learn from each other about progress, practices and policies for digital preservation in a Canadian context.

Why should you attend? You’ll have an opportunity to discuss:

  • Digital preservation developments, as well as ongoing challenges and opportunities in Canada;
  • New or emerging digital preservation workflows, toolkits, and best practices;
  • Impacts and opportunities with respect to artificial intelligence and machine learning;
  • Opportunities for collective investment and action in areas such as infrastructure, training and coordination of networked effort.

The summit has been planned to coincide with the Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) members’ meeting that will be held in Ottawa earlier in the week.

Please mark the dates in your calendar.  Further information and registration will be available in the coming months. In the meantime, if you have questions, please contact
