January 22, 2025 – The Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) seeks expressions of interest from an additional 2-3 representatives from academic institutions across the country to join the Communications Community of Practice Steering Committee. Members typically serve a one-year term and should be able to commit 5-10 hours per month to advance the work of the team.
Background
Established in 2022, the Communications Community of Practice (CoP) brings together library staff and other colleagues from Canadian academic institutions working or interested in communications. The goals of the CoP are to connect, provide information sharing, and grow expertise and capacity across Canada. The Steering Committee meets on a monthly basis to organize community calls, roundtables, workshops, and/or other forms of community engagement. These are held twice in a term (approximately 4 times in an academic year). They also create and provide access to resources for the community of practice as related to their activities (ie. Shared resources, links to presentations, etc.). More information can be found in the Committee’s Terms of Reference.
Instructions
To apply, please send a brief statement outlining your interest in serving on this group and your experience in the area of communications in libraries to Taleen Aktorosian, CARL Communications and Project Officer, by February 14, 2025. Members will be selected by the steering committee co-chairs Lisa Abram and Kristine Power with the goal of ensuring diversity of members across institutional size and location; in knowledge, experience and/or responsibilities; and career stage. At this time, we welcome interest from individuals from CARL and non-CARL member libraries, as well as individuals from francophone institutions.
