March 18, 2022 – CARL is pleased to welcome Dr. Karen Nicholson, who joins the CARL team on March 21st for a one-year full-time secondment from her position as Manager, Information Literacy, at the McLaughlin Library, University of Guelph.
Karen Nicholson is an academic librarian with over twenty years of experience and an instructor at Western University’s Faculty of Information & Media Studies. She holds a PhD (LIS) from Western and an MA and MLIS from McGill. Her research focuses on information literacy, academic libraries, and higher education, and she has published in The Library Quarterly, Journal of Documentation, College & Research Libraries, and Library Trends.
As a CARL Senior Program Officer, Karen will support the Advancing Research Committee and its working groups and, in collaboration with these groups and Visiting Program Officers, take a leading role in planning and delivering CARL initiatives in the areas of scholarly communications, open repositories, and enduring access. Karen will also engage in web content development, social media, and the production of CARL’s weekly news bulletin, the E-Lert.
