CARL Welcomes New Members to the Board of Directors

May 28, 2026, St. John’s – The Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) is pleased to announce changes to its Board of Directors, following the 2026 Spring Members’ Meeting.

CARL warmly welcomes two new members to its Board:

  • Gohar Ashoughian, Dean of Libraries, Simon Fraser University (Western Region Representative)
  • Geoffrey Little, Vice-Provost and Chief Librarian, Western University (Ontario Region Representative)

Both bring valuable regional perspectives and a deep commitment to advancing research libraries in Canada.

CARL also extends sincere thanks to Talia Chung (University of Ottawa), outgoing treasurer, and Jonathan Bengtson (University of Victoria) who have completed their terms on the Board.

The CARL Board of Directors is the Association’s chief governance body, responsible to the membership and with formal legal responsibility for the organization. Composed of directors of CARL member libraries, the Board plays a key role in strategic planning and oversight, and guides the work of the association in collaboration with its Executive Director and staff.
