@Risk North 3 Digital Preservation Summit Report Now Available

March 13, 2025 – The Canadian Association of Research Libraries (CARL) is pleased to announce the release of the @Risk North 3 (@RN3) Summit Report. The Canadian digital preservation summit was held on November 21–22, 2024, at Library and Archives Canada (LAC) in Gatineau, Québec.

Bringing together 120 leaders and professionals from libraries, archives, and related organizations, @RN3 was organized by CARL’s Digital Preservation Working Group (DPWG) in partnership with Library and Archives Canada (LAC), the Canadian Research Knowledge Network (CRKN), Bibliothèque et Archives nationales du Québec (BAnQ), Internet Archive Canada (IAC), the Digital Research Alliance of Canada (Alliance), and the Digital Preservation Coalition (DPC). The summit built on the success of previous @Risk North meetings in 2017 and 2018, continuing efforts to strengthen Canada’s digital preservation strategies, foster national collaboration, and advocate for sustainable infrastructure.

Through panel discussions, roundtables, and lightning talks, participants explored critical topics, including education and training, funding, storage requirements, benchmarking, and emerging technologies. A strong emphasis was placed on collaboration, resource sharing, and long-term stewardship in the face of increasing digital preservation challenges.
