Repositories in Canada

An institutional repository is a digital archive of an institution’s intellectual output. These repositories also form part of a larger global system of repositories, which are indexed in a standardized way, and searchable using one interface, providing the foundation for a new model of scholarly publishing.

Scholaris

CARL is excited to be part of the Scholaris initiative! Over the past year, our team has worked closely with Scholars Portal, the Ontario Council of University Libraries (OCUL), and University of Toronto Libraries (UTL) to develop Scholaris, a groundbreaking national shared repository service that offers hosted infrastructure and support for Canadian institutional repositories.

To help shape this national infrastructure service, three Expert Groups, operating under the aegis of CARL’s Shared Repositories Infrastructure Advisory Committee (SRIAC) and engaging in close collaboration with the Visiting Program Officer (VPO) – Metadata Strategies and Scholaris, are actively lending their expertise and support to fundamental segments of the project.

  1. Scholaris Metadata and Discovery Expert Group (S-MDEG) Terms of Reference.
  2. Scholaris Electronic Theses and Dissertations (ETDs) Expert Group (S-ETEG) Terms of Reference.
  3. Scholaris Digital Preservation Expert Group (S-DPEG)
